Halal originates from an Arabic phrase that means allowed or permitted by Islamic Law.

The definition of Halal according to the Trade Description Order (Usage of the Term “Halal”) 1975 is as follows:

When the term is used in relation to food in any form whatsoever, in the process of trade or commerce as an aspect of trading or part of an aspect of trading for the referred to food, the terms ‘Halal’, ‘Guaranteed Halal’ or ‘Muslim Food’ or any other terms that may be used to indicate or may be understood as meaning to indicate as permissible to be consumed by Muslims and allowed in their religion for the referred to food to be consumed, must therefore mean the following, that is, the food for which such terms are being used:

The Malaysia Productivity Corporation (MPC) which was formerly known as the National Productivity Corporation was established in 1962 as a joint project between the United Nations Special Fund and the Federal Government, with the International Labour Organisation acting as its executing agency.

In 1966, the National Productivity Council (Incorporation) Act No. 19 was passed making the Centre an autonomous body. It was later amended as the National Productivity Council (Incorporation) (Amendment) Act A305 1975, to cater for expansion of the Centre`s role. This act was subsequently amended as the National Productivity Centre (Incorporation) (Amendment) Act A801 1991. With the Act coming into effect on 1 December 1991, the National Productivity Council became the National Productivity Corporation.

Until recently, with effect from 21st February 2008 National Productivity Corporation (NPC) is now officially known as Malaysia Productivity Corporation (MPC). YB Minister of International Trade and Industry (MITI) had signed the document enforcing National Productivity Corporation Act (Incorporated) (Amended) 2008 and set February 21, 2008 as the effective date of the said act. In keeping with the expanded role of the corporation, the act is now known as Malaysia Productivity Corporation Act (Incorporated) 1966.

Objective

In 1984, the first batch of ADABI products rolled off from a small factory in Batu Caves Light Industrial Area in Kuala Lumpur. Soon after, its market growth began to rise steadily and this prompted a further expansion. From Batu Caves, ADABI shifted to bigger factory premises in Taman Kepong Light Industrial Area in 1986 and had two additional plants at Taman Ehsan Light Industrial Area in 1990 and 1992 respectively.

In November 1996, with an ever escalating consumer demand, Adabi shifted to its present factory and office premises located in Rawang Integrated Industrial Park. Situated on the 4 acres of land, the site presently houses the production, warehouses, office building and other administrative facilities of Adabi.
