Maahad Pengajian Islam Kelantan (MPI) (Logo Vector)


Maahad Islamic Studies was established on 17 January 1959 under the roof of the lodge, Jalan Merbau Maahad Muhammadi Kota Bharu. width = At the beginning of the establishment of the College was named the College of Education. College continued to grow until 1988 when it was taken over completely by the state government under the administration of the Islamic Foundation YIK until now. In 2006 the College of Islamic Studies was changed to Maahad Islamic Studies until now.

Maahad Muhammadi Lelaki or Maahad Muhammadi Lilbanin (Arabic: المعهد المحمدي للبنين; English: "Muhammadi Institute for Boys") is a prominent Islamic secondary school in Kelantan, Malaysia. It is located at Jalan Pengkalan Chepa, Mukim Padang Bongor, Kota Bharu. The school is state-funded and governed by the Islamic Foundation of Kelantan (Yayasan Islam Kelantan).

The school has played an important role in the history and course of academic development of Kelantan. It uses two-tier system in its education: conventional and Islamic academiae.

The history of Maahad Muhammadi Lelaki can be traced back to the 1st of April, 1937 (Thursday; 20th of Muharram, 1356 AH), when it was founded as al-Madrasah al-Muhammadiah al-Arabiyah at Kelantan Council of Religion and Malay Custom Building (currently, the Islamic Museum of Kelantan; next-to Muhammadi Mosque) in Jalan Sultan by a royal charter from His Royal Highness Sultan Ismail ibni Sultan Muhammad IV, the then-Sultan of Kelantan.

The first principal was Mr Sayid Abu Bakr bin Abdullah bin Abdul Rahman Al-Attas, a Singaporean from Arab lineage. The school's syllabus was after the Egyptian al-Azhar secondary school system, given to Mr Sayid by the then-Grand Imam of al-Azhar, Sheikh Mustafa al-Maraghi.

Maahad Muhammadi Perempuan officially established on 1 April 1937M 20 Muharram 1356H corresponding to forgive his assent, and said to His Royal Highness the Sultan Ismail Ibni Al-late Al-Sultan Mohammed IV, Al-Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Negeri Sembilan Darul Naim. Maahad Muhammadi on this day is also known as: 
  • Al-Madrasa Al-Muhammadiah Al-Arabiah (1937-1942) 
  • Al-Madrasa Al-Arabiah Jame 'Al-Ismaili rule (1942-1956) 
  • Al-Maahad Al-Muhammadi Al-qism Al-Arabi (1956-1973) 
  • Al-Maahad Al-Muhammadi Al-qism Al-Arabi (1956 - 1973) 
  • Al-Maahad Al-Muhammadi and al-Maahad Lilbanin Al-Muhammadi Lilbanat (1 July 1982) 
  • 1 April 1937, the school began operating in the Islamic Religious Council Office buildings in Jalan Sultan of Kelantan, Kota Bharu. 
  • July 1, 1942, the school moved to the building of Jame 'Al-Ismaili rule in the name of Islamic Arabiah Jame' Al-Ismaili rule. 
  • 1955, a new building was erected. The move to this building began on January 3, 1956. The original building Jame 'Al-Ismaili Merbau made ​​Maahad Muhammadi Perempuan Melayu Division. 
  • May 9, 1964, the inauguration of the new building Maahad Muhammadi Jalan Merbau was officiated by His Royal Highness the Sultan Yahya Petra, the son of the late Al-Ibrahim Al-Sultan, Sultan and President of the State. 
  • July 1, 1982 Maahad Muhammadi divided into two parts, men and women are governed by two separate principals. Maahad Muhammadi Men moved to Rogers Road from October 15, 1983.

In 1930 the British government set up a ruling Kelantan Malay School in La Loma. At the beginning of the establishment of the School of Literature is not received from the local community. This condition is caused by the distance to the village school too much and besides that people here also think that the subject is taught in French schools is a lesson infidels. So people here assume that the school is a school infidel Malay. Later that parents do not want to send their children to study in this school. 

To overcome this problem the government has taken certain steps which include the reading of the Quran as one of the subjects. However, Malay schools still received no response, the school finally moved to Kampung Melayu Balah because the schools in Loma is far from the village. After the opening of the new village Leban village school was again moved to the village of Bukit Soaking up now. After the school moved to the village of Khan Leban, Malay school building is still in good condition and regularly. The school was built on the site of 5 acres with a school building has four rooms and two teachers.
