Department of Islamic Religious Affairs (JAHEAIK) was officially established on January 1, 1980 for the purpose of assisting the Council of Religion and Malay Customs Kelantan in order to intensify their missionary activities and the development of Islamic affairs in the state of Kelantan. 

At the beginning of its inception on 01/12/1950, duties JAHEAIK known as the Religious Supervisory Office or call the Office of the Anti-famous for its wickedness more focused on the areas of prevention, apprehension and prosecution of criminal sharia alone. This office exists under the Office of the Mufti of Kelantan. 

Around March 1978 the government created The Religion of Islam in Kelantan State Secretary's Office conducted an officer holding the post of "Assistant Secretary (Religious Affairs)" as well as some clerical staff. Beginning in June 1978, the administration expanded the given level of full-fledged department headed by an officer of rank of Directors, while the title of Senior Assistant Secretary, but still under the wing of the Office of the Secretary of State of Kelantan. 

Only in 1980, then created separately from the office of the State Secretary with the annual budget and the power to govern the financial and administrative discretion. In the 60s and so on, up to now, JAHEAIK have experienced rapid development in terms of the scope and structure of personnel and administration in accordance with the demands of changing times and circumstances.
